I don’t know UPDATE

UPDATE: I don’t know what the future holds

Amazingly, we’ve finally laid down the vocals, and mixed the song down, ready to launch. I really can’t believe that we’ve managed to get the song to this point. Just 20 years. The good news is that you won’t have to wait 20 years for the next song. That’s already in the pipe-line!

We’ve been blessed with the incredible vocals of Lynsey Clarke, a good friend of Charles’ from his Souled Out Days in Aberdeen. Thank you, Lynsey! I’m looking forward to meeting you for the first time. It’s amazing that we can lay down the vocals 600 miles apart.

So – I’ve got those senior jitters… the ones that make you question why you’re doing this now. If you couldn’t make it 20 years ago, why should now be any different?

God gives each and everyone one of us a talent that He wants us to use to build His Kingdom here on earth. To spread the good news. We’re not meant to hide them, but to share them to encourage and bless those around us.

Matthew 5:14-16 English Standard Version (ESV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

But I’m 51… would God really use an oldie – infact Granny – like me? I look at the next generation in the Church now taking their place in leadership and I think what a fantastic job they’re doing… and subconsciously I find myself writing myself off before I’ve even started.

Philippians 1:6

For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

And then a quiet word says, “Why not?” to me. “You’ve experienced things that the younger generation haven’t had a chance to witness, and your counsel might just be the wisdom they need to avoid the pain you’ve been through or give them the strength to stay strong when the world seems to against them.”

You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream   –  C.S. Lewis

I’d love to say I’ve written the following quote, but it succinctly says what I’m trying to say:

There is a common belief that we gradually become less useful as we grow older. That this world is made for the young. Perhaps that is so. But we are not of this world. When we live our lives for God, our journey here does not end until we take our final breath. Noah, Moses, Abraham-some of our greatest biblical examples-all went on some of their greatest adventures at a time when most would be settling into retirement. Should you be finding yourself feeling a little bit forgotten, overlooked, unappreciated…take care to remember that God will use you at any age, and any stage. There is no age limit to the way He works, and His is a love that never grows old. – Jada Pryor

I guess what I’m trying to say is there is no age limit to sharing the Gospel. God can and will use us, if we are willing and available at whatever age we are.

I may not know what the future holds, but I put my faith and trust is my God, who does.
